The WAG BAG® Toilet in a Bag™
|
Q: How many Wag Bag® kits are included with the PETT® Toilet and with the complete system?
A: Three bags are included with each PETT® toilet. Fifteen bags with the complete System.
Q: How many uses per Wag Bag® kit?
A: Some people prefer to use each bag just one time but there is enough gelling powder to gel 32 ounces or 3-4 uses. This is a personal choice decision. The gel keeps on working until saturated. When you are using the toilet for mainly liquid waste, having extra Pooh Powder™ on hand enables you to get more uses out of each Wag Waste Bag®. Sprinkling additional Pooh Powder™ over the top of solid waste after each use maximizes odor control. For maximum effectiveness, be sure the additional powder is in direct contact with the waste and not on the toilet paper that may have been deposited. Do not try to max out the bags. Although they are engineered to be strong and safe, if you put too much weight in them they may not remain sealed during transport. The lid can be placed on the toilet over used bags to keep out insects. Extra toilet paper and hand wipes will be needed for multiple uses.
Q: Tell me more about the Wag Bags®?
A: The bags are degradable; they are made with a patented blend of polymers and natural starches to break down in landfill conditions after 6-8 months, depending on conditions. There are two bags, one funnel bag with powder to contain the waste, and a heavy gauge zip lock bag (12"x10") to secure and transport waste. They are approved for disposal with normal trash, as group II non-hazardous waste. The bags will work in any marine, R.V. or household toilet.
Q: Is it OK to use the bags without the PETT® Toilet?
A: Yes, the Wag Bags® can be used in any toilet, hollowed out log, bucket or by simply laying it on the ground. WAG® Bags are used by rock climbers and backpackers. The Wag Bag® is recognized by the American Alpine Institute as the premier human waste removal system for alpine environments.
Q: I’m taking a trip with 8 people for 3 days. How many Wag Bags® Toilet in a Bag waste kits do I need?
A: Figure 2 kits per person per day. In this case, you will need 48 Wag Bags® waste kits.
Q: Can I use my own toilet paper with this system?
A: Yes.
Q: What do I do with my toilet paper?
A: Usually you can drop the toilet paper right in the PETT® toilet just as with a normal toilet. If, with multiple uses for solid waste, you feel that the toilet paper is creating a barrier between the waste and the gel, you may prefer to place your toilet paper in the small square outer bag in which the other bags were packaged. When you are ready to seal the disposal bag, just drop the bag of toilet paper in on top of the waste.
Q: Why do I notice a slight odor when using the bag exclusively for solid waste?
A: The WAG® Bags are designed for both liquid and solid waste. the liquid activates the powder and without liquid in the bag, the odor neutralizer will not be activated. Just add enough liquid, either urine or water, to allow the gelled powder to encapsulate the solids. It usually takes about 6 ounces to do the job.

The POOH POWDER™ Waste Treatment
|
Q: What is in the Pooh Powder™?
A: It is a specially engineered mix of a non-toxic polymer based absorbent, along with an organic decay catalyst & odor neutralizer (no perfumes).
Q: Why might I need extra Pooh Powder™?
A: If you are using the bag primarily or exclusively for liquid waste, extra gelling powder will allow more uses of the bag. Add some when you reach the point that the waste remains liquid a couple of minutes after use. Sprinkling additional Pooh Powder™ over the top of solid waste after each use maximizes odor control. For maximum effectiveness, be sure the additional powder is in direct contact with the waste and not on the toilet paper that may have been deposited.
Q: What do I use to clean the toilet?
A: Basic soap and hot water may be used to wash your PETT® toilet.
Q: How tall is the toilet?
A: The toilet seat stands 14" off the floor, same as a regular household toilet. The three legs make it more stable on uneven terrain. It also has the same seat/ bowl (cavity) size as a standard toilet.
Q: How much weight does the PETT® Toilet hold?
A: The toilet has been tested by driving a truck up where the front end was supported by two PETT® toilets; one under each front wheel. While this is not a true scientific weight bearing test, it does demonstrate the durability of supporting a significant amount of weight.
Q: Why does the cover come off when the PETT is set up for use?
A: The cover is intended to be removed when the PETT toilet is set up for use. The cover protects the seat when not in use, and is used as a stabilizer on soft ground by placing the cover under one or two of the legs.
Q: What can I do when the PETT® toilet's legs sink into soft ground?
A: Use the cover of the PETT® toilet under the back legs. Place the cover with the smooth side down on the ground. The edges of the cover will prevent the legs from sliding off, giving you a stable surface. The optional bottom cover can be used in the same way.
Q: Is the PUP Privacy Shelter waterproof?
A: The PUP privacy shelter is water resistant. To increase the water resistance, you can spray a water resistant product to the surface.
Q: How do I prevent setting the tent up inside out?
A: Always make sure the door is zipped closed before taking down the tent. Disengage the upper hinges first, then disengage the hinges below, allowing the tent to implode into the center.
Q: Can I hang a shower bladder from the loop inside the PUP privacy shelter?
A: The maximum weight bearing load is 15 lbs. We recommend you hang the full water bladder outside the tent from a tree or other high structure. Run the shower hose and head through the flap at the top of the tent and suspend the show head from the top loop on the inside of the tent.
Q: What are the stakes and tie downs for?
A: Stakes and tie downs are used to secure the tent to most any outdoor surface. The shelter is designed with ground flaps on which sand or rocks may be placed when stakes and tie downs are not practical.
Q: How much does the PETT system weigh in the backpack?
A: 18 lbs.
